To clean the Microplane, scrape from the inside out (with the blades).
If grating soft cheese (mozzarella), put it in the freezer for 15 min before.
Use the mandoline to cut onion into ultra-thin rings for salad (and cry less due to speed).
Ginger grates better frozen (skin and all) on the Microplane.
Always store the mandoline in 'lock' position (blade down).
